The grade 3 Discovery students recently completed a project based on Alaska’s Iditarod dogsled race. Students designed and built a dogsled out of “found” materials. They also created a poster with information about “The Last Frontier.” We all learned that the race start had to be changed from Anchorage to Fairbanks due to a lack of snowpack. Finally, the sleds were tested, using a cup, string, and weights to move them across a smooth terrain (table) and a bumpy terrain. All the sleds survived the tundra!
