Summer break is always an exciting time of growth and development through for elementary aged children through their innate curiosities.  As parents/guardians, embrace the different experiences to further develop your child’s growth socially, emotionally. and academically.
Go for a walk through in our community!
Observe the changes in environment before and after a summer storm.
Attend a concert in the park.
Make a new friend.
Try a new game.
Visit a museum.
Did you know that the Rutherford Public Library has free passes to visit various museums and they provide a full calendar of events, summer reading contests, and of course a welcoming environment to cool off and read a book during the hot summer days.
Optional summer assignments are also available on our district website to explore at your leisure!
Have a safe, healthy summer and be on the lookout for information from your teacher in late August!

“I get ideas for stories. And I never know when one might hit me. I could be at a game, watching TV, or looking at an old baseball bat. If the idea is good and big, I write it.  And rewrite it.  Again and again. Until it’s just right. I guess you could say generating story ideas and writing is my gift.  I also love to inspire others to discover their gifts.  Because when we use our gifts and talents to help others, purpose is born and life is fulfilled.

To inspire. That’s my goal… in my writing and speaking.”  — Robert Skead
An accomplished local children’s author from Bergen County, Rob Skead will share how he followed his dream of writing.  Mr. Skead has written 13 books, and will be sharing his secret formula for creating a story.  We will learn how to get creative ideas and bring them to life, and the importance of teamwork, and working with others to achieve goals.

Recommended for ages 5 to 12
